When you buy a Jackery Portable Power Station or Jackery Solar Generator, you might wonder: Do I need to purchase extra cables? Which connectors work with which setup? Choosing cables should not feel technical or risky. This guide shows you exactly what comes in typical bundles, when (and why) you might want an extra cable, and which connector solves which real-world problem. 

Even though extra cables are not required for everyday use, they can make life easier in certain situations. For example, you might need cables and connectors if you want to place solar panels in the sun while keeping your power station in the shade, or connect more panels to charge faster. In this guide, we will explain the different Jackery cables and connectors in simple terms, so you'll know when you need them and how they can help.

Do I Need to Purchase a Cable/Connector in My Order?

You do not need to purchase extra cables or connectors when buying a Jackery Solar Generator bundle because all the essentials are already included. However, if you are purchasing a portable power station and solar panel separately, you might need to add cables and connectors to the bundle. Let's explain it briefly: 

Order the Solar Generator: When purchasing any Jackery Solar Generator bundle, such as the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus or Jackery Solar Generator 5000 Plus, it will include all the necessary cables and connectors. Thus, you don't have to purchase any extra cables unless you have any additional requirements.

Order Items Separately: If you are purchasing the Jackery Portable Power Station, like the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus Portable Power Station, and a compatible Jackery SolarSaga Solar Panel separately, the solar panel bundle will include all the necessary cables to connect the panel with the portable power station.

Connector: If you are buying the Jackery Solar Generator bundle with four to six solar panels, you will also receive a solar panel connector. However, if you purchase the four to six solar panels separately, you will need to buy an extra solar panel connector.

Jackery DC Extension Cable for Solar Panel

The Jackery DC Extension Cable is a 16.4-foot power cable that lets you extend the original cable connecting the solar panel and portable power station. It helps you keep your power station close at hand while placing solar panels in the best spot for sunlight. It is especially useful if you want to avoid leaving your power station outdoors, where heat or weather can cause damage. Jackery Solar Panel Connector

The Jackery Solar Panel Connector allows you to link two or three solar panels in series so you can charge your Jackery Portable Power Station faster. It comes fitted with 1 × male and 3 × female solar connectors. The female connector has a change-over cover. It allows you to switch between two and three solar panels while in use. It is filmed with PC material and can resist fire and harsh weather.

2 solar panels (no connector is needed): If you want to connect two solar panels to a compatible portable power station, you don't need a solar panel connector.

3 solar panels (one connector is required): You can plug in all three solar panels to the connector, which can then be plugged into the DC input port of the portable power station.

4 solar panels (two connectors are required): You can connect two solar panels to one connector, which will then be plugged into the DC input port of the portable power station.

6 solar panels (three connectors are required): You can connect three solar panels to one connector, which will then be plugged into the DC input port of the portable power station.

Remember that you can connect five solar panels to the connector at the same time.

Caution: If you are using two input ports of the power station simultaneously, make sure to use the same type and number of solar panels in each input port to avoid charging problems.

The Jackery Connector allows you to easily link two Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus Portable Power Stations together. You need to plug the connector into the AC expansion terminals of both Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus Portable Power Stations to connect them in parallel and increase the power output to 240V.

Jackery Adapter DC7909 to DC8020 

The Jackery Adapter DC7909 to DC8020 is suitable for connecting the solar panels with the Jackery Portable Power Station (8.1 mm diameter). It lets you connect a cable with a DC7909 plug to a device that has a DC8020 port. Simply connect the cable to the DC7909 to DC8020 adapter. Then, you can connect this cable directly to the solar panel and the DC input port of the portable power station.

The Jackery DC8020 to DC7909 Adapter helps you connect a cable with a DC8020 plug to a portable power station that has a DC7909 port. Simply plug the adapter into the cable and connect it to the power station, and you are ready to charge without needing extra cables.

Jackery Adapter DC8020 to USB-C

The Jackery Portable Power Stations that adopt a USB-C input as the solar charging input need a DC8020 to USB-C adapter. You need to connect the DC8020 male of the solar panel with the DC8020 to USB-C adapter cable, which is connected to the USB-C input port of the Jackery Portable Power Station.
